Field Team

  • Philip Arscott is the East Africa Regional Director, originally from San Francisco, CA. During his career with Village Enterprise, he has traveled extensively in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, taking on his current role of managing strategy, operations and personnel across Kenya and Uganda in January 2015. He was previously Senior Fellow in 2011 based in Uganda and then Director of Finance and Africa Support form 2012-2014. Philip graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in Economics in 2007 and enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and cooking.

  • Winnie joined Village Enterprise in 2010 as a Volunteer Business Mentor and was promoted to Employed Business Mentor in June 2011. She was promoted and worked as the Field Coordinator of the Soroti Area, working alongside Isaac Otim, and has recently in 2014 assumed the position as Country Director of Uganda. Before Village Enterprise, Winnie worked at Alliance High School as an A-Level teacher and then Erimu College as an Administrator. She holds a BA in Education from Makerere University in Kampala and loves singing and reading.

  • Tadeo Muriuki grew up in Nairobi, Kenya. He attended University in the United States where he received his Bachelors and Masters degree. Tadeo worked in the US for several years before moving back to Kenya. His work experience in Kenya includes working as a Research Manager for AMPATH in Eldoret, Kenya and more recently as a Project Director with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) in Western Kenya. During his free time, Tadeo spends his time with his wife and two young children.

  • Fabian Khamati was born and raised in Kakamega, Kenya. Fabian holds a Junior Accounts Clerk Certificate in addition to his diploma in Finance and Commercial Law. He has a wide range of training in finance, management credit risk analysis, and basic computers from both local and international institutions and is currently pursuing a degree in Commerce Finance. Before joining Village Enterprise as a Business Mentor in 2012, Fabian worked for a bank in both Nairobi and Mombasa.

  • Peter grew up in Arua District of Uganda. He holds a Bachelors degree in Development Studies from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Before joining Village Enterprise in 2013, he worked for over 5 years as a Program Officer with West Nile Private in Arua/Nebbi Districts, a project funded by CARE International. Peter was responsible for promoting village savings and loans associations, training on financial literacy and entrepreneurship/business development skills, and creating linkages to financial services. He has also worked as a consultant, helping to implement farmer institutional development programs and forming and strengthening savings and credit cooperative societies. In his free time, Peter likes to listen to music, watch news and Manchester United football.

  • Ellen Metzger joined Village Enterprise in 2010. Since joining, she’s worked as an intern, Operations Supervisor in the US office and S.M.A.R.T fellow in East Africa. She is deeply interested in international and economic development as well as Small and Medium Enterprise Development in Africa. Her passion for Africa stemmed from an internship in Ghana and has blossomed while working for Village Enterprise. She holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from Santa Clara University. She enjoys the outdoors, coaching lacrosse and experiencing new cultures.

  • Maurice grew up in Soroti, Uganda. He graduated from Uganda Christian University in Kampala with a degree in Business Computing. Before joining Village Enterprise in 2012, Maurice worked with Agricultural Development Partners (ADP) as an Accounts Assistant and later as a Field Outreach Coordinator. He then joined Africare Uganda as a Database Administrator. Maurice spends his free time on agricultural activities, tending to his chickens and pigs.

  • Isaac Otim joined Village Enterprise in November 2011 as Field Coordinator for Soroti, Uganda. Before joining Village Enterprise he worked with MTN Uganda as a Customer Service Advisor. Isaak holds a diploma in Co-operatives and Business Administration from Uganda Co-operative College.

  • Nathaniel Kimutal Maiyo grew up in Nandi District, Kenya and earned his degree in Economics from Bugema University in Uganda. He first joined Village Enterprise in 2011 as a Business Mentor in Eldorest West District. Before this, he was a farmer, growing mostly maize and wheat. In his free time, Nathaniel continues to farm and enjoys reading business journals.

  • Linnet Ayuma is our Finance and Administration Manager for Kenya. As Finance and Administration Manager, Linnet oversees and controls operations and finance management across all field offices. She joined Village Enterprise in October 2004 as Operations Manager and lives in Kakamega, Village Enterprise’s Kenya headquarters. Linnet holds a certificate in Accounting. She is a praise and worship leader at her church and a leader of the Shikulu youth group.

  • AJ Doty graduated with his Master’s in International Development with a focus in program evaluation and education, from The American University, School of International Service in May 2013. He received his bachelors degree from Pitzer College where he graduated with honors in Sociology in 2009. As the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation for Village Enterprise, he leads the implementation of an impact evaluation that will assess the core program of Village Enterprise and manages all the field program evaluation activities. AJ likes to travel, read, run and play tennis. He speaks English, Spanish, and French.

  • David Mango is a recent graduate of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) where he received a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. During his free time he likes to visit friends and go swimming.

  • Grace has been a program associate working in monitoring and evaluation at Village Enterprise since July 2013. She is originally from the Kumi District of Uganda, and she graduated from Kyambogo University in 2012 where she studied Economics and Statistics. She began working with Village Enterprise after completing an internship with the Soroti Local Government. Graceenjoys sports, especially volleyball.

  • Dennis first began working for Village Enterprise as an enumerator in Hoima in June 2013 and was promoted to Finance and Administrative Associate in September of 2014. He received second class upper from Makerere University Business School with a Diploma in Business Administration. After university, he worked for two years as an accountant at private holding company in Uganda before joining Village Enterprise.

  • Kate hails from Chicago and graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2013, majoring in African Regional Studies with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. During her time at Georgetown, Kate studied in Paris, Rwanda, and most recently Ghana, where she spent a semester at the University of Ghana in Legon. While in school she worked at the Rwandan Embassy, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the Global Environment and Technology Foundation. Before joining the Village Enterprise team, Kate worked at the South African Consulate on business and trade development projects. In her free time, Kate enjoys trying new foods, reading, and playing soccer.

  • Donah Achieng Chilo graduated from Moi University, Eldoret, with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development. She has been a volunteer with Kenya Red Cross Society, Nyando branch for three years and this instilled in her the humanitarian values and principles. Recently she worked with African Agricultural Technology Foundation as a field assistant and this boosted her monitoring and evaluation skills. During her free time she enjoys visiting new places and meeting new faces.

  • Dinah Adori Nabutsiri recently finished her undergraduate studies in Business from Maseno University. She worked at the Mombasa Hospital in the Main Accounts Department as well as at the Kenya Ports Authority in Mombasa within the HR section. She is very excited to join the Village Enterprise team and looks forward to making new friends.
