Applications for the 2016-2017 Village Enterprise Fellowship are now closed.
We envision a world free of extreme poverty where people have the means to support their families. We’re looking for passionate, results-driven, entrepreneurial people who can help us achieve our big vision.
Village Enterprise Fellowships are a competitive and unique offering that provide young professionals interested in microenterprise development the opportunity to live and work in rural Africa. The year-long intensive program is designed to provide Fellows with on-the-ground experience in project management, project design, pilot implementation and core operations, all of which are important for a career in the international development sector.
“Learning about extreme poverty and the education, psychological, health and sanitation issues that accompany it are jarring and disturbing. The reaction to extreme poverty is visceral. This is the ultimate reason I am working for Village Enterprise. Although it is easy to feel inconsequential in the fight against poverty, I strongly believe that it is important to learn, to understand and to contribute. After all, the Dalai Lama said ‘if you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito’, and my one week in Kenya has truly made me realize the power of the mosquito.”
The Kenyan team surprised us with a flash mob during the 2014 Innovation Summit in Kitale, Kenya!
